Neat blog! My apology it has taken 4 months to finally check it out. I am sure families appreciate the light hearted discussion, I certainly can. My lifestyle is somewhat different from “multigeneration living” yet similiar in that I have what we affectionately call a “Granny Nanny”. I am gen xer, single mom employed full time with about a 20% travel commitment. My mom is a boomer early retiree from the world of labor and manufacturing. My Granny Nanny does everything from meal preparation, evening transportation from school, taxi cab to piano, Tae Kwon Do you name it…. she does it all with love and care and she, my 13 year old and I share a better quality of life because of the arrangement. My career has excelled without the stress of “absentee mom guilt”, not to mention my mom enjoys the the perks and bonuses for her role. I often tease my colleagues stating that until the Obamas shared with America Mrs. Obama’s mother’s roles in their lives grandparents assisting in child rearing was not a common topic of discussion. I know it is true it takes a village and I can’t imagine life any other way!
